what a day!
church, lunch with my family, tranquilizer darts (okay so maybe not really on that one, but a girl can wish!), naps on the couch, hiding easter eggs in the house 2948 times and a few almond joy & snickers eggs peppered in there for good measure.
in all my lameness (i totally punked this year and bought plastic eggs and stickers. never even gave a thought to dying eggs for real. and probably won't until the wild woman is old enough to figure out what she's missing.) i didn't even manage to snap a photo of sophie b's easter basket.
my girl woke up to a couple of cute new swimsuits (one of which is her very first bikini! sorry daddy, but
we really made an effort this year to scale back on the amount of stuff involved with today. we've talked for a couple of weeks about what happened to Jesus and the sacrifices He made so that we can go to Heaven some day, and we wanted that to be the focal point of everything we celebrated.
of course, that conversation stirred up all kinds of thoughts of daddy bob in that sweet little head of hers ... so we talked about him and how he lives with Jesus and will be waiting for us.
i'd be lying if i didn't tell you that going to church was a little harder today than it's been in a while. it was exactly nine months ago that we lost our sweet guy. i can only imagine the kind of easter morning he witnessed on the streets of gold!
every year our church does easter lilies that you can buy in memory or in honor of people you love. then they line them along the front of the church easter morning and you can take them home after the service.
i bought two this year - one in memory of precious daddy bob and one in honor of our amazing nana. both were listed in the program as being from sophie & my niece kennedy. super sweet!
we were early enough (shocker! like totally!) that i had the chance to snap a few (blurry - sorry! she's wild and i'm not so good with the camera settings.) photos of my girl in her seriously beyond adorable dress from the laughing giraffe with some of the lilies.
y'all please tell me i'm crazy. i look at this and can TOTALLY see her at 16 posing like this with a bunch of friends at waffle house after a football game. mama can't take it!
i told her to look down and this is what i got. ha! at least it's a good shot of the fantastic hairbow my mom made her. :)
we went to lunch with my mom & stepdad, nana, blair & kennedy and mom bea (my stepdad's adorable mom - love her!) after church, and the experience was nothing less than what you would expect from two toddlers and their attitudes. for every one person there telling them to sit down, stop throwing food and stop shrieking about needing to go to the potty, there were four more telling them to just have fun (thus my wishful thinking for tranquilizers).
after we finished survived lunch my mom had the bright idea to attempt some cousin photos in the parking lot on what is probably one of the busiest lunch times of the year. winning!
after almost 5 hours of easter fun i didn't even attempt to solicit poses from the girls. i just started clicking as fast as my little canon would click while mom and nana kept them from getting run over.
i love love LOVE how much these girls love each other. they fight like a couple of cats one minute and console each other the next. it totally cracks me up that they can smack each other in the face and then ask each other what's the matter when they're both crying. ha!
sweet (for the moment anyway) little best friends ...
love & peter cottontail ain't got nothin' on me,
Miss Sophie looks absolutely precious in her Easter dress! Love it!
